Banja La Mtsogolo joined the rest of the world in Commemorating World AIDS Day on 1st December.

This year Ministry of Health together with various organisations jointly commemorated the day at Shama Community Ground in Nkhotakota under the theme “Let Communities Lead by spreading love and showing solidarity in ending AIDS.”

The event which started with a parade march led by Malawi Defence Force Band and later a candlelight memorial in honour of those who lost their lives to AIDS had BLM and other organisations showcasing what they are doing in the fight against HIV. BLM talked about its products specifying Manyuchi Brand and its role in the prevention of HIV transmission. In relation to the theme BLM laid out how the outreach clinics and condom rider distribution projects are reaching out to the typical hard to reach communities.

To intensify this Banja La Mtsogolo provided Family Planning services both long term and short term to
19 women at the event and distributed government condoms displaying the provision of SRH services.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health Beston Chisamale graced the occasion as the guest of honour and in his speech appreciated contributions from community members living with HIV in the fight against the pandemic. The event was spiced up with music performance by Eli Njuchi and comedy from Chindime and Phungwako.
